After years of trying, here it is…

Ingredients

2 ½ cups self-rising flour

1 stick of butter (or ½ stick butter and ¼ cup Crisco)

1 cup buttermilk

 

Directions

Freeze butter

Use shredder to shred butter

2 cups flour and mix in butter

Add buttermilk and mix just until incorporate

½ cup flour on surface

Mixture on top of flour then sprinkle flour on top of mixture

Pat down and fold over and pat down no less than 10 times (most of flour will get incorporated into dough)

Pat down to an inch+

Cut biscuits out

Heat cast iron skillet and butter

Biscuits in skillet and top mopped with melted butter

Skillet in oven at 400 until golden brown (15 minutes+)
